About us
Hofmann Chemie GmbH is an owner-managed, independent raw material trader based in Hamburg. We supply customers in the pharmaceutical, veterinary, food, and feed industries across 14 countries and work with short decision-making processes and a personal approach – both for our customers and our suppliers.
Our core business is the procurement and distribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and other raw materials from a network of more than 50 manufacturers across international sourcing markets, including Europe, China, and India. For new sources, we review the available documents, references, and product-related information.
Depending on the product, manufacturer, and destination country, we coordinate the available documents – such as certificates of analysis (COA), safety data sheets (SDS), specifications, and further evidence – for import, customs, and market requirements.

History
What began in 1982 as a specialised trading house for pharmaceutical and chemical raw materials has grown, over more than four decades, into an internationally active raw material trader. An early focus on international sourcing and long-standing, direct supplier relationships continue to shape the company today.
Over the years, a specialised trading house has grown into a broadly positioned raw material trader with an expanding product range. The ambition has stayed the same: to find the right source for each requirement and to see deliveries through reliably to their destination market.
As an owner-managed company, we have stayed true to our principles throughout: short decision-making paths, reliable partnerships and the careful selection of sources. This continuity connects the company's beginnings in Hamburg with a sourcing and export business that is now networked worldwide.

We also supply customers across Europe and other international markets. Deliveries are made as required by sea freight, air freight, or under agreed FOB terms.
